Efini or Bathurst?

Hey guys i'm kinda stuck here and i need some of your help. I just sold my civic so i can buy a rx7 fd. I've come across two models one is a 1996 Efini Type-R RHD the other is a 1995 Efini Bathurst Type-R RHD they are both from Japan they both have the same amount of miles but idk which one would be better. Can you guys help me out. I know about the rotary engine but idk whats the big difference between the two.

Adam P 03-26-08 11:41 AM

shit ether one i would be happy to own but i would get the bathurst

enzozenuni 03-26-08 11:48 AM

yeah but which one is better. the owner of the bathurst also owns the 96 one but he says the bathurst is better because it has bigger wheels and bigger breaks and some other little stuff?

Hitokiri_Gensai 03-26-08 11:54 AM

the Bathurst R has upgraded suspension, brakes, and other things. go with the Bathurst.

enzozenuni 03-26-08 12:23 PM

is there a difference since its a year older? Also is there a difference under the hood?

Hello

Are they already landed on this side or do you have to import them? I would have both checked for compression and see the records for both. In the end the better condition car, better maintained car or better compression car should be your deciding factor. Bigger brakes that may need replacing aren't better than smaller brakes that are still good. Unless you already know something about both and they are effectively the same then go for the bathurst edition.

Again, condition of the car should be the deciding factor and not the model, 95 and 96 are very much the same from what I know. I am no expert though!

the Bathurst has 20k miles the other has 28k miles I drove the efini last week and it drove fine just idled kind of low it was around 400 and they told me its because the oil hasn't been changed.

Oil not changed

I am no mechanic but idle low die to oil not being changed. A, I don't like when the idle is low and B) I don't like when the oil has not been changed and was suppose to have been. How long, is it low? The rotary does not fair well with poor oil changes and low oil levels from what I have been told. Your really need to invest some extra dollars and have both cars checked by a recommended shop, the PSI, the vacuum for the turbo, and the coolant pressure seal. Post in another thread asking for a good shop or mechanic in your area. It will be worth the extra dollars. You could always ask the seller to have the oil changed first and then revisit the car but I would have it checked the way it is so the mechanic can se how the car has been run. I had my car checked out by a KDROTARY in PA and paid for the transport to have the car brought to him.

From what I have seen I have not heard of many buyers of JDM cars that did not require a rebuild with in the first 12 months.

how much would it cost to get it checked because I heard theres a rotary specialist over where I live?

SLOASFK 03-26-08 01:40 PM

how do you plan to get these cars into this country?

Let me know where they get crushed...

enzozenuni 03-26-08 02:03 PM

they are already imported and registered with titles

Montego 03-26-08 02:13 PM

^^ I'd say walk away... there's somehting fishi about that.

low idle caused by being low on oil???

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2185126

i guess it's not a joke...well, good luck. :\

enzozenuni 03-26-08 02:46 PM

why would it be a joke? Are you a stalker or something going around looking for my myspace?

hwnd 03-26-08 02:53 PM

I'd pick the RZ over them all;

theorie 03-26-08 02:55 PM

it's a joke because you obviously know nothing about rx-7s, you're like 18, just sold your civic, and you're trying to buy a RHD imported rx-7.

we get threads like this every week, and sometimes people post them as jokes. thats why. lol i just googled your name and all that shit came up. hardly stalking. wanted to see if you were a troll or not.

zenofspeed 03-26-08 03:08 PM

Rhd?

:Wconfused Can someone explain why anyone would want a RHD car in America? There are hundreds of LHD cars you could be looking to buy.

enzozenuni 03-26-08 03:12 PM

I have the money for it. me being 18 doesn't mean anything. Doesnt matter if I don't know much about the rx7 thats why I am here asking you guys for help on which is better. But you think its a joke.

theorie 03-26-08 03:13 PM

search for "think i might buy an fd" and see how many threads come up that are exactly like yours. LOL

18yo - CHECK
former civic owner - CHECK
knows nothing about rotary engines - CHECK
wants a RHD car - CHECK

dime a dozen buddy.

enzozenuni 03-26-08 03:13 PM

yeah but this one is in great condition has no more then 20k miles and is a efini Bathurst

enzozenuni 03-26-08 03:15 PM

next week I will post you some pics of it just to prove your ignorant ass wrong

notveryhappyjack 03-26-08 03:17 PM

just pick one they are both very similar. take the one with better paint or that new car smell interior. Your going to have every import fan boi on your nuts nomatter which one you choose.

00SPEC 03-26-08 03:29 PM

well, if this isnt a joke, please don't ruin either car

LEARN ABOUT THEM

you can never know enough about FDs, and no matter how much you learn before you buy your first, at least twenty thousand more questions will arise once its in your hands..

enzozenuni 03-26-08 03:30 PM

to me its not that its a RHD its just that they are with very very low miles and good condition and better then the other ones that I have seen for sale with the same price.
