Hello

I cannot answer your question sorry but, would like to ask if you had any problems at all? I heard that you had to rebuild the engine every 30000km - 40000km, is this true? I have found a 1994 type R from japan with a super intake system etc... Just asking thanks.

I don't think there is a difference except in the badging. Some markets received "Efini" others received Mazda.

there are some out there with 100k+ miles without a rebuild, however if you want to race or be agressive with the car, count on rebuilding it every year or two....they are called the 50k motor for a reason

Efini is a brand Mazda used in Japan for several years. The third generation RX-7 was one of several models under this brand until 1999, when the RX-7 was placed under the Mazda badge. It was marketed as an Efini RX-7, not a Mazda Efini as mentioned above.

hmm...there was a 97 Efini MPV (the van) that ran Diesel instead of gas and it was a 4x4.

Mazda had 3 marques in Japan, Efini, Mazda, and Eunos. Efini was the sporty marque, mazda the standard one and Eunos the more luxury sports end of things.

The efini RX7 is actually different to a standard RX7. It has a metal Y-pipe and crossover pipe, and a few other little things - but these depended on so many differnet factors it is hard to say (year, chassis number, factory options etc)

Also, many Efinis you see are not Efini's - they are re-badged mazda's. I have an Efini RX7 but a plastic crossover pipe so either its a rebadged mazda or its had its metal pipe sold.

mazda's three sub-marques were autozam, eunos and efini. Efini started in 90, ended in about 97. The last FD to carry the badge was the version III, which ended in late 95 (some may have been badged 96).

efini was only vaguely 'sporty' - rx7 was the only car in the line-up that was a true sports car. The other cars were the MPV (people mover!), ms6, ms8, ms9 (929). The whole branding setup was a bit odd - the mx5/roadster - a definite sports car, is in the 'luxury' eunos submark.

and the last two paragraphs are way out - the version I had a metal pipe, later versions were changed.

You will find some imports bearing efini badges as they look rather cool, and are still sort after by FD owners.

its pretty cool that they had a Diesel Van which was the Efini MPV.
