"eeeeee" noise when hitting 3k rpm

Since i've replaced all the vacuum hoses earlier last year, i've been getting a "eeeeeee" noise at about 3k rpm. I am not leaking boost according to my boost gauge and the car doesn't feel like it's losing boost.

I remember seeing a thread that this noise could come from the turbo itself when the propeller shaft is having too much play...could that be the problem or is there something I should also look into?

thanks.

do you have a stereo system setup?

if it sounds like a sharp beeeeeeee~ noise when you start to boost... my guess would be boost leak from your intake elbow if you removed it during your hose job. take it out and butter up some gasket silicon on top of the rubber ring and reinstall it. see if that helps

if its not a major problem. most likely that's it. happened to me several times. after applying liquid gasket and re-install, its gone

I have a greddy intake elbow but I will seal it up some more however if it was leaking boost from the elbow I wouldn't get a perfect boost pattern right?

i had this too when the car was running

yeah.. i have the greddy elbow too, if anything greddy elbow's worse because it doesn't use the rubber o-ring at all. still need to apply gasket sealer all around everytime i remove it.

when it happens to me, i still get perfect boost pattern, just annoying. almost sound like you hit some kind of warning. its a very minor leak that's why the sound is so high pitch.

try it. imo... its a big possibility, if you still hear it after that... umm... :dunno:

A high-pitched sound usually means a small-sized leak -- it could be too small too notice on your boost gauge.

Could be a leak from a metal gasket if the sound is very sharp. Like the one used with the air pump switch valve (ACV?).

Tighten all your clamps, Ive had cars that would boost fine but make that same noise. Sounds like the loudest screeching noise you have ever heard. You may have a worn out clamp. Make sure you can tighten them really tight without them backing off or becoming loose. Simple Fix
