ECU continues to flash MOP code
I disconnected the MOP to help diagnose some *excessive* blue smoke on startup but with it re-connected and codes cleared it still flashes 40 and goes into limp home mode.
I would actually be happy to just leave it disconnected. Is there a way to do this without the ECU going into limp home? If not, any guesses on why it isn't seeing the reconnection? Thanks, Alex |
a little help here?

What did you do to disconnect it? To reset the ECU, disconnect battery and press the brakes for 30 seconds. Then reconnect. See if that helps.

code 40 = Purge control Solenoid open or short circuit

oops, fixed code 40, 26 is the MOP code I'm getting, it was too late at night when I wrote that message.
I've cleared the ECU a couple times with the procedure mentioned, code 40 is gone but code 26 keeps coming back. I just unplugged the MOP to disconnect it. Thanks, Alex |
Code 26 explains the blue smoke.

Nope, no codes prior to me disconnecting the MOP. I disconnected it to see if the smoke would go away (this caused the code initially) and now the code comes back after clearing the ECU even with the MOP connected.

Oops, quick on the trigger with that one. I was going to add that I think I just need to look at the connector again tonight and hope that it is broken and not the ECU. Also, thanks for the continued help.

Incase anyone is searching for this topic in the future one of the wires near the connector on the MOP had rubbed against the oil drain tube from the Turbos. Once repaired and codes cleared it ran fine.
