Im looking for a straight forward ecu pinout diagram for my 1993 rx7.

Before you flame i have searched and unfortunatly i have not found anything that dont resemble spagetti when trying to read it.

I have downloded all the workshop manuals including the wiring and body manual but all the wiring diagrams look like gobildy gook.

Im installing a Pivot FCG-X fan controler and im looking for the 2 pins from the ecu.
These are the quotes from the installation documentation.

White wire = Connect to electrical fan signal of engine computer.
Orange wire = Connect to water temperature sensor of the engine computer.

Just need a very simple pinout diagram of the 1993 ecu

Somebody must know where to get a pinout diagram of the ecu ?

Those diagrams are listed in the FSM. There are various pages that show the connector pin setup.

Refer to my 1st post , they resemble spagetti.

I just want a diagram of the ecu harness with a lable on the wires coming out of it.

If you look in the FSM under section Z, you will find all the connector diagrams.

I don't know if this section is in the stuff available online. If not, get a real FSM and you will see what I'm referring to.

I have section Z of the FWM unfortunatly its spegetti to me.

Look for the 2 pinouts that im looking for and you will c what i mean.

I cant understand them as my ECU has 4 block conectors at the back of it and i cant relate it to anything in section Z.

Look at pages Z-30 and Z-32. No offense, but if you still feel that it looks like "spaghetti", then I would suggest that you give the job to a qualified auto electrician.

It should be noted that the FD's fan system works on a series of relays, and they need to be activated in sequence in order for the system to operate.

looks like i found it.

Seems that the colour , discription and pin position is spread over pages z4(colour),z40(discription) and z33(position).

Back to your comment about the relays, i dont know if you have looked at the link in my second post and looked at the fcg-x that im planning to fit, but do you think like i do that the fcg-x just sends a signal piggy backed on the ecu wire for the fans to make then kick in like the ecu was sending the signal.

ie. imitating the ecu signal for the fans to kick in but doing it at a lower temp.

My initial problem is 1hr of trafic on my way to work and the standard ecu temp to turn the 1 fan on.

I just want the cooling fan to kick in at 90 rather than standard, my aircon can keep the temps down to 80-90 but im planing on doing away with the aircon.

You do know that the fans are wired in parallel so that they both turn on at the same time, right? One fan does not work independently of another.
Well, your problem there is that the initial fan operation (low speed) is controlled by the thermoswitch, not the ECU. In order for medium speed to occur, relays 2 & 4 must be energized after relay 3 is energized.

Hate to put it this way, but a better method would be to use an FC thermoswitch, which plugs right in and activates at 95 degrees instead of 108.

Ah didnt know both fans ran together, i work with Miatas/MX5's and they work on the priciples that 1fan is for cooling and the other only works when the aircon is activated.

On the note of the FC thermo switch .. would a Miata/MX5 thermo switch do as i have loads of them.

Also is there some way of getting the fans to act as though the aircon was on when it wasnt, U see the temp is perfect when the aircon is on and runs hot if it isnt.

This is only a theory but if the fcg-x monitors the temp then when a desired temp is reached (the desired temp settings can be alterd on the fcg) it sends a signal to energise the relays in sequence 3 then 2&4 .

Guess im gonna have to wire the fcg-x up and see what kind of signal it sends out when the desired temp is reached then maybe i can see if i can wire it up to the fan mod iv heard about (the one where you can have a switch to put the fans on med or full) to act as the switch for it.

That's the manual for the HKS fan controller. At the end are my installation notes that should give you a lot of help.

Section F of the shop manual has all the ECU pinouts, what wire does what, etc. - that's where you need to be. If you're seriously going to do a lot of work on the car, buy the real shop manual - trying to decipher a crappy PDF scan of a wiring diagram doesn't cut it. They're only about $80, and worth the weight in gold.

Looks like that Pivot fan controller should do great. I LOVE my fan controller - keeps my temps nice all the time, it's one of the lesser-known mods for the FD that more people should have.

ok looks like it working to press.

Just need to locate the Fan Control Module and that elusive black and yelow wire you were speaking off.

Found where the fwm says it is ( mounted with the ecu) but things seem to have been moved about a little in my car (jap import) so i cant seem to locate it, Any clues as to how to locate it, there are several block connectors and juction boxes in that perticular area.

Well been running with this mod for a few weeks now and i have to say its almost the best pice of kit i ever got given for my car, If it was only on loan i would pay a lot of money for it, fortunatly i got it given ;).
Like Dale says it works great and keeps the temp of my car to 80-90 in trafic.
Unlike what i was previously lead to belive no wiring to anthing apart from the ECU was required, in fact simply splicing in 3 wires was all that was required and the little temp control unit just turns on the fans at what ever temp i require.

These little gadgets i think are unsung heros of the trafic que driver and im suprised there are not more ppl using them, i recoment them to anyone.
