anyone ever use one of these... do the really work.. hopefull so, for 40$ shipped i think i might just pick one up

willjs7 03-06-06 08:45 PM

a buddy of mine is telling me not to get an ETB without aftermarket motor and tranny mounts, he said it will fuck them up. anyone care to reply?

willjs7 03-06-06 08:56 PM

he has an FC, and i just looked in my VB catalog at the difference in mounts, and i can se that the FD mounts look much more structuraly sound then the FC mounts, the FC mount looks like a rubber sandwich in between the motor and the frame, as where the FD mount is encased in a metal box type thing.

I would'nt use that one because it has no way of absorbing the movement of the engine. That brace will eventually punch a hole in the side of where it's bolted to. Get one that has an absorber (shock) on it.

anyone else care to share their opinion? im open to anything, just wanna know what people think

It looks pretty cheaply made, like the tubing from a lawn chair. Hollow tube with the ends crimped to accept the bolts.

willjs7 03-06-06 09:28 PM

hmm, i talked to the guy who made them , he said hes sold 100+ of them.. he also has had one on his car for over 2 years and had no problems

willjs7 03-06-06 09:30 PM

it says its solid in the add on ebay as well.

Are you really that gullible? If so, I have some nice property in Florida to sell you...oh wait, you already live there! :D

Of course the guy is going to say that! It looks like a cheap piece of junk.

willjs7 03-06-06 09:32 PM

hmm

no1 on here has one... i just wanna hear something from someone who owns one of these peices.

Tim Benton 03-06-06 09:32 PM

Good one Don...after you posted that, I looked again at the auction...it does indead look like lawn chair material. IF he's sold 100's of them, chances are someone on here had to have bought one, but I doubt he's sold that many to begin with. I'd stay away, looks cheaply made.

Look at the one rotaryextreme.com makes and see the difference in construction.

Why? It's a cheap piece of crap, no one needs to own one to see that!

Here's a few examples of higher quality products:

Don't people take pride in their ride anymore?

willjs7 03-06-06 09:43 PM

lol. calm down man, its not like i bought one. i was just wondering.

tt_13b93 03-06-06 09:45 PM

Regardless of what people say it is a nice piece, i have one it helps with the chug in 1st gear and you do not want the one with the shock. why spend a lot of money on something as minor as that. its a fkn torque brace, if it holds the motor still than use it and by the way it bolts right on perfectly.

just to show you!

willjs7 03-06-06 09:48 PM

is it solid, or is it holow? jw

alexdimen 03-06-06 09:52 PM

why waste money on a shock absorber?

well, not having a shock absorber defeats the purpose of having a soft/rubber mounted engine. you're basically putting all that twisting power that the rubber mounts don't absorb into whatever that bar is mounted to... it's bad design, sorry.

tt_13b93 03-06-06 09:54 PM

solid and in person it looks nothing like a lawn chair piece. look at what im running, its fine, and its not gonna punch a hole in your firewall, lol that was funny.see, if you have urethane motor mounts i might go with a shock one but with the oil filled crappy stock ones it makes a noticible difference and coming out of corners when you hit it hard i noticed a difference, the car doesnt shift as much because it holds the motor which your tranny and ppf which goes to the rear diff housing from moving. i had a shock absorbed one and didnt notice shi*.

willjs7 03-06-06 09:56 PM

hmm anyone else like theirs?

tt_13b93 03-06-06 09:58 PM

well, if you dont want it to hold any pressure or wait transfer then why buy one at all

tt_13b93 03-06-06 09:59 PM

WOW its quiet in here.

willjs7 03-06-06 10:01 PM
