ebay strut brace
 

i'm a little leary of this cause its like $7.00 but i guess for that price, i could afford for it to suck :) what do you guys think? is it worth a try?

Yeah I think for $7.00, it's worth a try to see if you're satisfied with it, or not satisfied with it enough to spend $150.00 on a cusco, r1, etc. I actually had one on my old car and thought it was a good deal for the price. However these bars as well as strut bars in general and discussions on differences in brands(ok more like a flame war against people buying cheap ones) have been brought up before. Some people say there's a difference, some people say there's no difference. Hell some people say for street driving you can't tell the difference between strut bar and no strut bar.

The shipping costs more than the brace- $16.00 + $2.00 insurance. So, now it's a $25 brace.

yeah but that beats having to buy an R1 brace and then finding out that i don't like it... i think i will be getting one :) i evevntually plan on getting an R1 but i think this will be a nice way to hold myself over till the time comes

I got the $15 strut brace off e-bay about a year and a half ago, and it's quite good. All it needs to do is fit. Metal is metal, and that strut bar is a really really simple piece, so it'd be tough to make it not work. Good choice, but let us know how you like it.

The general rule of thumb with these is as long as it fits, any strut brace is better then no strut brace.

For $25, its certainly worth the risk. If you don't like it, throw it away. Also, for $25, don't expect it to fit perfectly. It is likely that you will have to do a little "fine tuning" to get it to fit correctly. Maybe you will get lucky.

Anyway, a cheap strut bar is way better than no strut bar, and possibly just as good as an expensive one. I chose the middle of the road. I got a used 97 bar on the parts forum. Not as much as the R1, but not dirt cheap either.

or you can get a greddy one with the logo engraved in the center of it.Its a very nice piece in my opinion.I picked one up for 99 bucks plus 20 dollars for shipping.Which is still cheaper considering greddy sells it for 170 and that doesnt even include shipping.

my friend decided to get me one of those for my old silvia...BOMZ to be exact...and it didnt fit...EVEN AFTER relocating a couple things...i duno...its a diff. company, but $25 is worth it

I have one of those and it fits great. I figured it couldn't hurt for around 20 bucks shipped. :cool:

it appears to have an adjustable end on it... so we'll just have to wait and see :D thanks for the input on a snap decision guys... much ablidged

I have it..looks just like any of those $200 braces...good welds and fits in there fine....only thing is doesnt have is a name brand sticker on it...Im trying to find a mopar sticker :)

I've got one, it fits well, its adjustable and polished, so it makes the rest of the motor compartment look bland and plain by comparison, I say to go for it.

update: i got my strut bar via FedEX this afternoon. it looks pretty good right out of the box. a few minor scratches on it due to shipping, but that's FedEX for ya :D otherwise, its exactly as advertised. i don't have my FD on me at the moment, took it to a mechanic to have my new brake rotors, pads, lines, AST, and dp installed... should get it back tomorrow night. i'll let ya know what i think of it once it gets installed though guys

Those SB's work fine. A bunch of us have them. My only issue is that mine is practically rubbing a hole into my M2 SMIC pipe....

now that i see it, i don't think i wanna buy an R1 to go in there, even though the red would be a nice addition to my accents (red plug wires, red couplers, eventually red vacuum lines too) but i think that might be too much accent and the polish looks good. didn't realize so many people had them though. oh well, i just felt like feeling cool and actually updating one of my posts! :d sorry to hear about that piping though man.

I have one of them -- they may have slight fitment issues, but nothing that will cause you to bust out the dremel.

Just got one in. Took me 10 mins. to put it in, from getting the tools to get it done a look at it. Not fitment issues. but every car is different. If you fitment issues try raising the front of the car from the middle a bit to get the chassis to flex a bit. It had some minor scratches but nothing that Never Dull would take care of. I got nothing bad to say about it. I took the car for a "nice" spin and I can tell the difference.

I got one too, paid like 15 bucks though.

I didn't even look at the link but i pretty much already know what it is...I bought the same one for $150 when i first bought the car...I was happy with it for $150 so i think you will be happy with it for $25 shipped

I saw these on ebay when i first got my fd (oh...all of 4 weeks ago) :) I was really interested in getting one.

forgive me for being such a newb, but what do these things actually do? i mean, i understand what it does thoretically...but can you actually feel a difference in driving? someone said above they did...but how exactly is the driving experience different with a strut brace? i mean, is it honestly noticable diffferent? and in what way?

i have an idea of what to look for, but this will be the first car i've driven with a brace like this, so i'm gonna keep my mouth shut... if any of the experts out there could inform us, i would really appreciate it too :D

congrats on the FD there highspeed... i just got mine on January 13th of this year. been losing money into it ever since haha
