Easy Way to Cool my baby down.

In my opinions heat seems to be the achilles heal of my FD. What are some options/mods to cool it down? Having some work done next week and want to come to the mechanic with some questions.

There's always the fan mod, new hood, aluminum ast, aluminum radiator, etc.

If you do a search under this forum for cooling it will reveal a vast amount of info...Some examples you will see are fan mods, aftermarket radiators, removing restictive plastic pieces from under the hood and front bumper,etc.G.....

You could always take the seal off from around the hood in the back (towards the front windshield). When driving with the windows down you will feel the heat coming out of there

cool

Cool, thanks for the info, I'll crawl around my engine compartment tonight. New fan I have though of, just wondering if they really worked better then the stock fan. Now hood, no thanks, I love the design of the FD, wouldn't want to change a thing. Radiator, if its really worth it, aluminum radiator I hear is the best cool down mod, might look into prices for em.

thanks again

get a real water temp gauge instead of the factory 3-setting "cold-warm-overheat" gauge. then you will know how hot you really are running and how much your mods help.

Good point on the guage. Also the fan mod allows your car's fan to run after the car has been turned off. Mine is set to run for 10 min after the engine is turned off. This helps consideralby in the temp of the car. Also, you are going to need an all aluminum radiator sometime anyway...the stock radiator has the plastic end tanks that are known to crack (mine did). It is really the best way to go.

Always run with your parking lights on, not to be "cool", but it makes the fans come on earlier.

but a PFC to alter the time fans come on, or just run with parking lights on during stop and go. you don't need radiator, etc. I am in Georgia and run stop and go for an hour with 100F outside no problems with parking lights on. leave them off, and ohh, it can be painful.

WIth PFC, you don;t need new gauge or fan mod.

KZ1,

How does the PFC alter the time when the fans come on? Does it have a setting that you input or is something built into the PFC? Details?

Jonesboro, if you have your Apexi Power FC sent to XS (the only Power Xcel tuner) they can set your fans to come on at any temperature you desire. This can only be done with the Power Xcel software, so Ray at srx7.com and any other apexi dealer can NOT do this.
