EAK! Oil where I don't think it should be! HELP!
 

Well... I was taking off my intake setup and intercooler so I could drill a hole in the water housing for my new water temp meter. I decided that since I had it all off I would put in my fluidyne radiatior. All went well EXCEPT the darn rad didn't come w/ a drain plug and I need to find one! (maybe someone can help here)

I noticed that the elbow comming off the intake manifold and the y-pipe was a little oily inside. More inportant, the lower LARGE tube going to my intake box (stock) was a bit oily also. There was a little bit of oil residue in my air box also (none on the filter). Does this mean my turbo connected to the lower pipe (donno if thats first or second) is going?! What about the oily residue in my intake pipe and y-pipe? What could this mean?... (hopefully nothing too bad).

I'm going to put on the Efini y-pipe when I get the gasket kit... is there anything I should look for when I do this?!

the stock rad drain plug is a plastic one with a phillips head I believe...should be able to see it from the bottom. Near the center of the bottom end tank...

as for oil I think it is normal :) I hope it is since I have it also

Ya... I got the old one drained (in fact I drained the whole car) but my NEW fluidyne rad didn't come w/ a drain plug and the stock one dosn't fit in it. I was just wondering what anyone on here w/ a fluidyne used for a plug.
Phew... I was really worried... this is my frist time taking apart my FD. Just concerned.. thanks!

A little oil inside the couplers and intercooler pipes is normal...as long as it's not enough to start dripping out...you shouldnt worry about it.

:D I'm happy again then! ;) Not near enough for dripage... just in the pipes... I just wasn't sure.. good to know! ;)

I can't say the same for my under body tho :( It's a mess under there. The previous owner had some oil leaks and got them fixed but not cleaned. I think there are 2 oil leaks left. One I'm almost sure is where the OMP connects.. they are very slow leaks and I'll look into them more probally when I do my silicone hoses.

Tonight I get to wire up the Defi computer and mount my a-pillar pod! After that I'm going to take some pics and a video for all those guys wondering what Defi gauges look like on a stock FD setup. Then I get to pull the dash and put my whiteface green backlit gauges in and hopefully they match my whiteface green backlit Defi gauges! :p

Go to a local autoshop and ask for radiator plugs, 12mm course with rubber washer for about $3. I'm using a nissan plug with a washer, nice fit and works well.
