E-brake signal stays on
 

Hey guys... here's my problem, the e-brake signal wont disappear when i disengage my e-brake! The light signal is no big deal... however the car feels like something is slowing it down, it feels like if the e-brake was not completely disengaged.

The reason behind all of this is that not long ago a wire burnt under the driver's feet vent and as you all know there's like a billion wires in that area... so that burning wire kinda damaged a couple of other wires... although i went to my audio/alarm shop to get that mess fixed up... and everything seems to work fine except for that e-brake warning signal that always stays on :wallbash:

any idea on what I should look out for to get rid of this annoying problem?

check your brake fluid, it might be low.

0) Do as the man said above, then
1) check the small switch in the Emergency brake assembly, under the boot. Push the e-brake handle on down and see if it goes out. Switch may be bad or need of adjustment.
2) short in Ebrake wiring. Remove the center console cover, check wiring.
3) E-brake not disengaging - check for broken cable under the car. If this has happened there would be no resistance to the ebrake handle.

has always been low fluid for me

Follow the above advice on the light. The dragging feeling may be a separate problem, like a sticking caliper or brake pad.

I've had the spring-loaded 'arm' at the caliper where the cable attaches seize and stick. AFAIK, the only fix is to buy a new or rebuilt caliper. Put it on stands turn the wheels.

have the same problem, wiring is fine, fluid level is fine, and I do not have any dragging or rear caliper sticking issues, however I do have aftermarket stereo equipment and think it may be looping through the e-brake wire......any input maybe the e-brake switch is about to take a dump??
