why dont you just cut 2 of the sides off and weld them together to create one larger ic?>

JTurtonRX_7 08-10-03 06:44 PM

...worthless i would think. And i really doubt that you could just weld them together easly.

I don't think this would be the best solution. Just seems like an awkward approach.

I think this is about your fourth "would such-and-such an intercooler work as a front mount," ranging from WRX to Supra etc. etc. If you have extra OEM ICs, sell them, save up a few hundred bones, and buy a nice aftermarket front-mount.

Don't waste your time.

the stock IC has a large pressure drop. If you want to use two, be sure to use them in parallel; not series.

It's probably still not a good idea though.

The stock intercoolers also have problems with running higher boost. They are known to expand under pressure. Racing Beat sells those intercooler clamps that keep the end tanks from blowing off on the stock IC. Aftermarket IC's don't need them They're made to handle the extra boost and do not lose their end tanks doing it. I had thought about the neat idea of putting more than one together, but you'd do more work trying to work out the piping and ducting for the set up than is worth the extra couple hundred dollars it costs to pick up a new IC.
