driver side door hard to close?
I'm having to slam the driver side door to get to close. I was wondering if anyone can give me some Ideas about getting this problem fix?

It is all of them, i have been told Ir is because cabin pressure, if you read reviews from when they were new it was a complaint then too.

if you crack a window.. door.. hatch.. open.. youll notice that its easier to close..

It's the driver's side door latch. I've seen a few '93s that were like this. The actual latch in the door that clamps onto the "U" shaped bracket on the car is at fault.
Not sure what they run new, though. You do have to do a decent amount of take-apart to get to it - pull door panel, pull the window, pull the window track. But, it would probably take an hour or two to fix. The air pressure is part of the problem but a good solid shut will overcome that. If you have to SLAM the door to get it to close, that's the latch. I would agree on cabin pressure but like dale said there's something else at fault.
Because with both windows closed, the passenger closes with just a slight push with 2 fingers. |
Here are some things to check and do. I know because my FD was made in March 92.
(1) Make sure that the door seal on the frame has not be taken off and put on wrong. The paint shop put mine back on wrong. The outside surface should be soft rubber, not the hard side. (2) Make sure the seal fits the frame tightly and not loose and sticking out. (3) Clean the door seals with something like AlmorAll. This makes them slippery. (4) If the door does not swing easily on the hinges, WD40 the two hinges and the sliding bar that goes into the door from the frame. (5) Check and adjust the door latch on the frame. (6) Take off the door cover, spay construction foam between the vertical and horizontal beams and the door outer skin. |

I took the door panel off and used grease on everything and the problem still persist. I know for a fact that 1 2 3,4 are good ^. i'll have to check 5 ad six. I really hoping I don't have to replace the latch :( |
