Drive belt broke and damaged cable
Hi, my drive belt literally exploded (the one that uses the p/s pulley and the a/c compressor pulley) and tore apart one (i hope its only one) big wire. Can you identify this wire? it is beneath the left most pulley near the airbox. heres a pic:

Does not matter what it is used for.
(1) Disconnect the battery. (2) Remove surrounding parts so that you have access to the wire. (3) Repair the wire. (4) Re-install battery. (5) Set up a maintenance schedule so that you will periodically inspect YOUR car for problems before they become serious as this was. This could have been prevented! |
This happened unexpected. my car is really well maintained... will bring the car to mazda tomorrow, would be nice if anybody could identify the wire.

You shouldn't need to identify the wire to repair it. Or for that matter should you need the Stealership.
Disconnect your battery. Find each end of the broken wire. Solder wires together. Wrap in Electrical tape. Enjoy car. -Geoff |
The closest harness is the MOP as it goes just behind and below that area.

As mentioned by the chuck, that does look like the oil metering pump wires, there are about 7 or 8 of them in that bundle. They are wrapped in a distinctive covering that looks different than most of the other harnesses on the car.
Sorry this happened to you but thanks for posting about it... it's probably time to change the belts on my car. |
i just had a look at my car and the connectors. the cables were ripped out of the metering oil pump connector (B1-40). the problem is the outgoing color codes in the manual match the colors of the cables that are in my car, but the incoming cables dont. B1-40 is a 10 pin connector with one empty pin, so 9 cables are coming in. i have 9, 3 directly out of the engine (blue, black, yellow) an 6 coming from another connector (blue, red/white, black, yellow, white, red) next to them. can you identify these cables? Outgoing colors are as stated in the manual: brown/white, green/black, brown/black, black/orange, blck/blue, white/black, white/black, black/light green, black/yellow.
Since the colors dont match, im not sure where to put them. i need the pin configuration of the 6pin connector and the 3 pin connector (in case there is one) of the 3 cables. http://www10.pic-upload.de/24.08.12/aqoi7uxuq72e.jpg |
i agree with the other people, checked my car around that area, looks like its coming from the OMP

Your problem might be the manual you're looking at.
I see your car is a 99 FD. They may have changed a lot of the colours of the wires if you're looking at the easily accesible 93-94 online manuals. -Geoff |
in the wiring diagram, theres only one side of the omp connector. i looked twice, cant find the opposite site. Yes, the wire colors are different on both sides of this connector.

Anybody? i really need help with this.
for better comprehension i painted the following picture. What i need is to know if theres anything i am missing in my wiring (the big ?) and if not what the pin configurations of the 3, 6 and 10 pin connector are. even if your wiring colors dont match mine, i could resemble mine because i would know from where to where each wire goes (for example 3pin connector: left top to 10pin connector bottom right) http://www10.pic-upload.de/26.08.12/1di18x5cysfb.png |
If thats how your omp wiring schematic looks then its the same as the 93-95 model years...Im looking for this same info as my omp conncector was ripped off now car is in limp mode and need the diagram to wire it back correctly

the wire colors are different modelwise
