DP install what type of bolts, and what size and measurement
 

I'm getting ready to install the downpipe, and all the bolts have been removed, since when I got the car it never came with an exhaust. Thus, I never got to see what the previous bolts looked like.

When I bought the downpipe, it already came with some quality bolts and nuts, but I don't want to take chances with it as they may have just thrown some bolts and nuts on there to shut me up, and they look similiar to this http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/tech/bolts-lead-md.jpg which I assume is the wrong ones.

My first question is about the right size and measurments of the bolt? So I am going to get some new ones from the NAPA. I did a search and the size if I am correct would be for (4) m10 X 1.5 X 20mm?

My second question is the type of bolt or stud? Where I'm confused is the bolts itself since the exhaust port has only one entry for the bolt and no exit point the top bolts would have to be incorrect. I am assuming the studs I will need will have threads on both sides like the one on the left in the picture???http://www.manufacturingcenter.com/t...s/1100PTN1.JPG.

Studs are a superior form of fastening, but for most downpipes, you can't use all of the factory studs. With my Bonez DP, I was able to use 3 of the 4 factory studs. For the last hole (bottom right), I used a socket head M10 x 1.5 allen bolt that was 25mm long.

You can't use the regular style bolts like the ones pictures above because their heads are too big. They will hit the welds on most DP's and then cannot fully seat. The allen bolt I described requires a 5/16" allen wrench to tighten.

BTW-The bolts are available at OSH for about $1.69 for 2. Hard to beat that. :)

I use the factory studs and grind the flange of the factory nut to clear the weldment interference.

Help! carries the replacement stud/nut for our exhaust.

Orilley's have them and Advanced Auto I think.

M10x1.25 or M10x1.5

can't remember. But they have exhaust manifold stud kits.

If you need exhause stubs, Kragen or Pep Boys sells them. They are M10-1.5MM Metric. Make sure you use Grade 8.8 or above hardware. Usually the exhaust stub are black oxided Grade 10.9
