Downpipe won't fit!

:( Got a stainless downpipe. Had to disconnect the steering linkage to get the old downpipe off not much room to work! got the new one on and cant get the steering linkage to connect because the pipe is round all the way, where as the old one has a flat bit at the end for the steering linkage to cross over. Is there a way to make it work? because they are selling these downpipes everywhere!

Use a hammer and hit the pipe in to clear the steering linkage

For a rhd drive car you need a downpipe made for RHD steering column.

I don't know that a hammer is enough.

I have a RHD drive FD. I needed to be molded to say the least. I can not remember if heating it was enough or if it needed to be cut then rewelded....

Sounds like you have an LHD downpipe dude - they're a mare to fit to RHD cars.

Let me guess, Japspeed, right?

My advice would be to sell it to someone in the states and get a proper RHD downpipe - something like an HKS - I had an HKS mild on mne and it flowed very well, with none of the fitment issue of an LHD pipe.

This man's experience should be part of any RHD owner's bible.

Truth.

The HKS, GReddy, RE-A, FEED...

any of those will fit on, as stated they are designed to squeeze into the tight spot between the steering linkage and the turbos,

best bet would be to either buy brand new, or pick up a good condition used one from another member

Cheers

J.

Hehehe, It's my mantra :)

But I didn't learn it from the FD - I learnt it from my S-body, then just went straight into buying the good stuff for the FD :icon_tup:
