downpipe! really need some help
 

alright i am trying to get that damn pre cat off and i cant find a place to get any leverage. I need some serious help. the bolts are hard as hell to get off. how did you guys get it off. We got one bolt off from the pre cat to the cat and we are trying to tear off the other one because it just wouldnt come off. need some help now! thanks

Soak everything in PB blaster. Soak it several times. Let it sit overnight. Really, let it sit all night long. Try again tomorrow.

How big of a ratchet/breaker bar are you using?

Can't stress this enough...follow the adam C's suggestion and most of all be patient with it. You don't want to break the stud/bolt off. Keep working with it until you find the right angle. Top two should come out from the top. I'm assuming you've removed the intake hoses?

I agree - remove all the intake hoses and piping. The aluminum snake-like pipe that runs to the back turbo is tricky to unbolt with that big pig precat in the way, but once you get the two nuts in back it's all fairly straightforward. Then with the y-pipe gone you have plenty of access to really soak the studs and soften up the rust. Don't bother with WD-40 - use PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench or some other serious penetrating oil.

yeah i did remove the intake hoses and it is still a tight squeeze. I am just using an ordinary racket wrench, so I am guessing I should get something with alittle bit more torque. And what about bolts that cant be soaked with anything- I am trying to remove my entire exhaust sytem and all the damn bolts are fused together.

It shouldn't take a breaker bar. You may snap one off doing that. Follow Adam's suggestion, and take a small hammer and tap it after soaking it. This has always worked for me.
