Downpipe Question
 

I'm about to install my downpipe this week. My question is, can I access and install this from under the car lift or do I have to remove parts from the engine compartment and install through there?

When I did it I had to work at it from above and below.

Hmm.. Wondering if I can do it from just down below.

there are several reviews on here about that. some people have done it just from the bottom.

I was shocked when i looked underneth and up how everything was so accesible (sp?) remove the heatshields off the stock downpipe, and loosen 3 bolts to remove the abs shielf from the top. You need to lose all the intake hoses..but hell once you've done it a couple times its easy...

After first removing the intake pipes/couplers, I highly recommend that you remove the Secondary Turbo air-pipe (two 10mm nuts). This needs to be done from the bottom. Slide the air-pipe out through the top. Take off the Crossover tube. Then remove the Y-Pipe flange nuts (two 10mm nuts per flange/side). Slip the Y-Pipe off the Turbos. If you plan to disconnect any or all of the vacuum hoses connecting the CCV, just make sure you label or mark them before you do.

Once these components are removed you'll have EASY top access to the two top AND bottom front DP studs/nuts. You'll have to get the bottom rear DP stud/nut from the bottom of the car. Without removing the Y-Pipe, it will be a PITA to get to the top rear DP stud/nut.

Put everything back in reverse order. BADA-BING!!

I can unbolt the rear inlet from top! You need long, thin arms and small ratchet with a 3" extension. Oh yeah, and some mad skillz.

That's a bold statement!! Where in the Wide World of Sports do you stick your hand and arm through.????? :)

I've done it twice and bolted it back on the same way! You'll need to stick your arm on both sides of the inlet, depending on which nut you are trying to get at.

There is no humanly possible way I can get my hand in there. (No,..I'm not bragging),..I ain't got big hands :(

It's just easier for me to get the inlet off from the bottom. Either way or methodology,...it really exposes the DP studs pretty damn good.
