why am I having probs. starting?

ok, Im getting weird feedback from my motor, and I'm worried that it may be symptoms of O-ring failure. My car had problems starting this morning, and has had it occasionally. Other times, it fires right up. Once started, everythings fine. Occasionally I get the low oil light, but check it and it seems fine. I dont know what that could be caused by. However, what worrys me more is that after shut down, clicking the key to ACC, the coolant buzzer comes on after about 10 secs, and after clicking it off, then starting it again, the coolant buzzer and light shut off, so like I was saying, after starting the car, everything seems normal. Plenty of smoke at start ups, but it dissipates after warm. And I can hear water rushing through my heater core still, and cant seem to burp all the air out. I just replaced my AST and the associated hoses running to it, and had the coolant system pressure tested to 20 psi with no leaks. Help???

Sounds like two problems; (1) maybe a failing oil level sensor or its associated wiring, and (2) you probably still have air in the cooling system from your AST repair.

It usually takes a long time to purge all the air out of the FD’s cooling system; you just have to keep going. With the engine cold have you visually verified the water level in the cooling system and in the reservoir? Is the reservoir level dropping or empty?

Also, be sure to double-check the hoses and connection to the reservoir because a pressure test can’t check these.

ok, when the motor is stone cold, the ast tank looks pretty full, near the filler neck. however, the reservoir filler is nearly empty, and I can see coolant near the bottom, but its no where near the top. The overflow tank says its about 4 ticks above full, and Im worried that dumping coolant into the system will just let it spit right up again, however, ever since installing that AST tank, there has been no puking up coolant which is a good sign. Is this going to be okay if it does that if I keep adding coolant trying to burp the system? I would imagine that the air would eventually displace itself with coolant if it did this, granted the cooling system isn't drawing air back in on cool down because in that case, theres no hope of getting all the air out. So, if it spits up coolant, will this be a sign that it is as full as it can be, or should I just keep doing it, and hope that the air will get itself out...

Anyhow, as far as the oil consumption goes, shes eating oil up super super fast. I got the light as I was driving today, checked the level, and it was below the marks. I added a quart about a week ago, and havent really driven the car more than 300+ miles since I added that last quart. I know the standard amt. for the low to full level is 1.7 quarts, but putting that whole quart in a week ago shouldnt bring the level down below the marks already right? what could be causing that rapid oil consumption? I just had the turbos rebuilt, so I can't see how that could be the culprit. In addition to rapid oil consumption, my gas mileage is crappy, as I filled the tank to full, and ran it to the Empty mark, and got about 170 mi. out of one tank, and someone was telling me that running 20W-50 will reduce mileage a bit, but how much. Ok, too many questions. Ill stop there.
