down pipe question!

So i've noticed my down pipe glowing red on my car on idle. and my car lately has been stalling on me and my catalytic heat light comes on. now would this be because i have a clogged cat? i need some opinions. car is basically stock other then modded stock air box and catback exhaust.

thanks

over heating?

the engine itself is not overheating. but the exhaust heat light turned on. which is a sensor on the cat that is set off if the cat goes passed 200 degrees. note this is a jdm rx7.

Sounds like a clogged cat to me. Happened to my old RX-8. I'd get it fixed pronto.

yeah. the exhaust and cat are already ripped off my car. just debating to buy a mid pipe with restrictor plate or a high flow cat. since i do not have my waste gate ported.

If your car is mostly stock, you won't want to uncork your exhaust too much. Personally, I'd opt for running a cat. Random Technologies make a good replacement cat for the FD.

I don't think the stock wastegate can compensate for a high flow cat. I think even a high blow cat will cause boost spikes.
