Down pipe or intake?

I am trying to get more power out of my fd, so I am planning to get a downpipe/midpipe or an intake. Which will make more power? And advantages of each one?
Thanks

downpipe first!!!!!!!

do a little searching on mod order for your car. it is very specific and explains why

also try http://www.robrobinette.com/

SUPER GOOD INFO!!!!!

Downpipe will remove heat from the engine bay, intake will just make you run a bit leaner. Heat is bad, and too lean is bad.

Also, an intake will be very obvious, and a downpipe might be a bit more inconspicuous, if that's any difference do you.

DP that's for sure.

PS, read this, there's a couple links in there that would be helpful, especially, "advice for new owners / suggested modifications" and "reliability mods"

Downpipe only, midpipe is much further down the road...

KaiFD3S Aug 26, 2004 02:07 PM

downpipe first....

In case you didn't understand the advise all the previous Members tried to convey. ......Do the DP first!!!:)

Open Downpipe! Open Downpipe!! j/k.

These cars have a modding order, go out of order and you run the risk of serious engine damage.

Boost gauge, DP,... prioritizing money saving goals.... :)

You may want to consider wrapping the DP too. Improves exhaust flow, reduces under-hood temps and is inexpensive. Heat-coating is another option, but I'm not sure how much $$ that is if your on a budget.

when I had my downpipe ceramic coated (jethot 2000) it was around $60 for the coating.

Thanks to all, I will for sure do the downpipe first, Gotham racing is selling a downpipe and mid pipe for really chep. $159

DP and forget about wrapping it. Wrapping only makes install much harder. DP will make the engine bay cooler already.

After DP, do boost gauage and CB next.

Before you get the intake after above mods, you may need an ECU.

just put the downpipe on first, DONT put in the mid pipe just save it for later
