you can take off your air pump after installing the mp and you will still get flames ;) The air pump as nothing to do with the flames.

alright, ive got a "full" exhaust (gutted cat). and i havent noticed any of the strange flames shooting out of the back of my rx-7. whats the deal? haha.

what exactly is the reason for these flames anyway?

Usually if your shooting flames your running rich. Unused fuel is what is causing you to shoot flames. So no airpump has nothing really to do with shooting flames.

excess fuel being ignited as it leaves the motor. rich cars do it better. it usually occurs after the release of the accelerator after a WOT push....i do not think that you will see the flames with a gutted cat.....a straight pipe has no restriction.....

the air pump adds to the cat. but is clutch driven and is NON functional after 3-4K rpm....

I shoot flames outta my FD, and that's with a CB, DP, MP, and the air pump still on. The pump has nothing to do with the flames.
