doin a hose replacement on my car,where 2 get silicon hoses,what size?
 

I am planning to do a hose replacement job on my car where do i order the hoses from or can the be found at local auto parts store? what sizes do i need to get to get the job done? also where do i get the zip ties from? i plan on doing it Jan.5 start the year with a migrain i am going to get from this pain in the ass job!

so if someone who has done this before tell me where to get all the materials and a few pointers on the job, rx7 shop manual i have seems preety straight foward for helpin me take the engine apart.

Get:

35 ft of 3.5 MM hose
10ft of 6mm hose

Get it from www.hosetechniques.com but dont get the kit.

Its too much $ and there are so many things in there you wouldn't use.

Just get the hose. It cost me like $75 shipped.

You might want to invest in some long needle nose pliers. they were very helpful for the tight spaces. TAKE YOUR TIME DONT RUSH DOING THE HOSE JOB. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

I used hose from Baker Precision and highly recommend it; it's very thick and therefore hard to kink.

I bought the kit from Hose Tech. Yes the kit does have a bunch of stuff that is not needed but it is very nice to have the extra hose left over if you need it or have a problem .

When I did mine I bought 24 ft of 4mm line and 10 ft of 6mm line. When I was done I had hose left over of both sizes (not a whole lot but some). I used RTV and zip ties to secure them all, others have different so I don't know the best answer but I was satisfied with the overall end and performance has been great. I used Aerospeed's product and I was very satisfied with their side wall thickness. I am sure their are other good products but I did found it nice to cut from a length of line instead of precut lengths. Take your time and mark your connections so you do not get any surprises, its best to do them one at a time whenever possible.

so when i order form hosetech. i ask for "35 ft of 3.5 MM hose
10ft of 6mm hose" or "24 ft of 4mm line and 10 ft of 6mm line" or does it really matter????? also where do i get the ties and RTV? do hose tech sell them also.....and about how long does the whole job take could it be done in 1 whole day starting early in the morning? :evilgrin:

Hose Tech. gives you the tie wraps if you buy the kit. But they should sell them seperately you'll just have to specify what color. You shoould be able to get RTV at most hardware stores.

As for time...... You might be able to doit in one day. Its not hard just very time consuming. I spread mine out over a week, but i found a bunch of stuff that needed to be replaced in the process so I had to wait for parts to come in as well. I'd also put the whole car up on jack stands if I was you. It will save your back some cause you wont have to bend over so far. And TRUST ME by the end your back will be killing you and you will never want to see a vacuum hose again.
