Does my flywheel look properly mounted?
 

A little help. I want to get everyones advice on this install. This is the first time I did a flywheel and counterweight on an FD.
Does it look right? Is the gap between the counter-weight and the seal (orange) normal? If not, what do I need to do to fix it?

it looks right...the CW slides in the rear main seal. MAKE SURE YOU PRE-LUBE THE SEAL AND CW.

Thanks for the compliments. I just am not used to the gap between the seal and counter-weight. I am going to install the trans and engine this week. Just a little nervous. :)

The eccentric shaft tapers down to the threading. You'll see what Im talking about when you go to take that flywheel off and its stuck on there, despite having the nut removed. Basically, if that nut is on there solid and the flywheel doesnt wiggle, you're set.

yeah ,that look about right , BTW what FW is that pretty sharp looking ,whats the weight of it , looks pretty light

It's the Mazdaspeed flywheel I bought off an RX7club member. I hope it's as good a mod as people claimed.

I have already installed the flywheel. It's not moving, and it's spinning fine. I oiled the seal but you seemed to STRESS the importance of oiling it. Is there some technique I should be made aware of?

Lock-Tite on the flywheel and clutch bolts is also a good idea.

on an unrelated topic, it doesnt seem like you pilot bearing is in the end of the eshaft deep enough, and also that there is no grease seal.

Looks like I have another question than. Does the pilot bearing need to be pushed further back? What tool should I use?
The 'grease seal' is a little ring looking thing? I have one and wondered where it went. tee hee. Ooops.

Darth, yes, you need to push the pilot bearing further in. You can feel inside with your pinky to make sure there will still be a wider space behind the bearing for removal at a later date. You can use the appropriate sized deepwell socket and a hammer to push it in about 1/8th inch. The dust seal should be recessed a bit, it can be almost flush. Make sure you grease both the bearing and the seal.
