Does anyone know where I can order a quick release oil pan nut thingy? :D
 

I was thinking about replacing the factory oil pan plug with one of those quick drain style plugs. You know, the type that does'nt require you to unscrew anything....just flip the little arm, and the oil drains. If anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know. CJ

They sell one similar to the Aeroquip one at Autozone and O'Rileys. It's made by Fram but it comes with a little hose that makes it really easy to drain into a milk jug or something. No mess. It was around $10 I think. Make sure to get the correct drian plug size, don't remeber it, but they can look it up at the store.

"fumoto" i think makes a good drain valve. the quality looked really good on the one I saw

Make sure the release lever is facing rearward in full-tight position in case you drive over any road hazards. Backing up over low ground obstacles also. ;)

I use the Fram version and like it. I wouldn't do the Fumoto; too easy for it to accidently come open.

I've always hated the plastic oil drain pans because I never had complete faith that the thing wouldn't dump oil everywhere since I have had two different ones that leaked over time. Since the Fram drain has a nice hose I now use 2 liter soda bottles to drain the oil into and hold it. A couple of them is enough and they cap tightly and won't even spill if you drop them. Try that with those damned drain pans! I no longer drive to the store to dump my oil worried about a spill :bigthumb:

I also dig the http://www.fumotovalve.com/ one. Have one on my rx7 and my ford diesel. Easy to use and I dont worrie about it opening.

This is the kind I was actually wanting. At my work, we use them on trucks and stuff. Very nice to use. I quickly searched the page and did'nt find anything. I don't suppose you have a part number for your Rx-7 do you? CJ

I know I'm gonna get killed for this, but is it that much of a pain to throw some newspaper down on the driveway, buy a nice pvc drainpan from manny, moe and jack, and change the oil? I wou'ld much rather have the factory drain plug there for a rock hit, bottom out, or any other unexpected roadrash than some ez-flush oil drain kit.

i would nto worry about it too much. i have the fram one and its pretty low.

the thing some people might not realise is that these take a fricken long time to drain! other then that, no drips is great, espeically when there is wind outside. also, you mgiht not realise this but sometimes the oil bolt will get stuck on there pretty good with the stocker and it is freaken hot when your car is a bit warmed up!
