Does anyone has HID's with the stock headlights?

I want to get some HID's for the stock lights. I'm trying to avoid getting the sleek lights set because I want to keep that original look of the car "sleeper" (I don't really think a RX-7could be call sleeper). All the bulds that I can find fort he car are 9003 but I can't find HID's that will fit 9003. Will H4 will fit?

As far as the size of bulb is concerned, I use H4s. They are (I thought) the same bulb for all intents and purposes. Can't help you on the HID thing.

First off, HID conversion is not a simple change of the bulbs. When you purchase a HID kit it would include the bulb with it. There are a few kits that uses the 9003 base.

He got them from: http://www.hids4less.com

I think the main problem with these kits (from what I hear) is that the beam pattern is horrible. If anyone is just looking for better lighting with the stock housing, the Sylvania Silverstars are great upgrades.

Its illegal to put hid's in the stock headlight housing. If you live in an area with a lot of ricers, you will probably get tickets. Besides, if you want to go HID, just get a complete kit and put them in the grille opening. You will get a better beam pattern. The sylvanias that SCC put on project civic are supposed to be pretty cheap.

Drivng lamp HIDs are a waste of money. Did that 2 years ago, and if I pointed it up high enough where it did good, it would blind on coming traffic. Point it down, and you would not get much benefit from HIDs. Spent hours aiming them, but driving lights mounted down there are too low to be of any real use (for street driving). Could not satisfy oncoming traffic, cops, or myself at the same time, and just gave up and sold them.

That Sucks. I just bought some off Ebay. Well, I'm going to try em out. If they do get me pulled over, I'm sure that I can easily re-sell them.

i've had HID in my accord for more than a year now, no problems with cops. beam pattern is not the greatest, but the lighting is still better than stock.

Ihave been reading that hid on the stock head lamp sucks. No good pattern. Can I get more info on this and some pics. I'm tire of reading old threads and fiding no pics.

He's suggesting that the kit will never be available. Might be true, but I hope not. It would be nice to see some more products on the market for the FD.

MakoDHardie 04-18-03 12:08 AM

What about those new lenses that they sell in random places, ie Ebay, for FD's. Like the clear ones or whatever.... Would they have any enhancing effect on HID's in stock housings?
