This is kind of opposite the jist of the thread, but when I first got mine (in '93), I was driving on 2nd St. in downtown San Jose and stopped at a stoplight. The ensuing conversation went something like this:

3 guys in a Chebby pickup: "Hey, esse, you shoulda bought a Corvette, man!"

Me: "Why? So I could get beat by a Mazda?"

<Light turns green>

I have ahd kids ask me if they can sit in it. I always have people yelling stuff at me. I was Atlantic city new Jersey and a cop asked me what kind of car it was. I think he was a rent-a cop though.

Mazdaspeed00,
I think the Mustang is more common now days in Yokohama where I live... Most of the people that have them only bring them out on the weekend, and at night..

Also a lot of those comments are from Americans, Except for the women...

Just today on the way to work a guy in a corvette came to a complete stop next to me (his lane didn't have a line at the light but mine did) and asked what it was. I told him and he said it was really sharp. The light changed and I pulled about half a car away from him (only got about half way through 2nd) then I had to turn into where I work.

This car gets more fun every day.

Yeah, I think I've seen more Mustangs out that FDs here on the rock...

...funny thing is that when an American buys an FD, he automatically asks if I work on it myself...

...not that I mind helping a fellow FD owner out...but don't ask me to do an engine swap for you for FREE

I've gotten alot of "nice car" and "sweet ride". I also had two people take pictures of my car while I was driving home, both in the same day!

Needless to say, I didn't drive it for a week or so, and I changed my route to and from work! Didn't wanna get "jacked"!

Well, I got "Nice Viper" once.

I got pulled over by CHP and he told me I wasnt getting a ticket(even before he knew my proffession) if I told him how fast I was going, I told him I did not know, maybe 70. He told me I had a nice car and to have fun(I was before he pulled me over)

Steve

Oh ya, many people think its 2001(I have 93). That makes sense, they are basically still using the same body style in Japan for 2002. That just shows how innovated this car is/was.

It is a turely, great honor to be a owner of a rare machine.

I get looks all the time. This is the car, that'll be my "oldie" car when I grow old, get retired, and spend my time doing autocross.

"Dad, can I drive your car to the prom?"

"Heck no! We just got you that new RX-10!"

I just came back from Tijuana and had to wait over an hour in line to go through the border. This guy next to me in a Mustang jumped out of his car came over and said "I love your car". He offered me 16k right there.
No sale of course and no more Mexico for my FD.

Ok lets see here....

I have gotten most of the "Nice car... what is it", "How many cylinders", "Is it turbo", ect.

One time I was behind this car and once they turned off to their house the passenger stood outside the sunroof. He yelled to his friends outside the house "hey look at this sweet *** rx-7" I thought that was pretty funny.

The best was one night when I was taking my favorite twisty road. This car was in the way doing like 10 under the speed limit so I passed it when the passing lane came up and I accelerated back up to 80. This lady kept pace with me till the end when I turned off, then she yelled out her window "YOU *******!!" LOL I couldn’t stop laughing.

I have had people pull over on the street just to take pictures of it when its parked. People think its a Viper. But to me the car looks like an exotic and the girls really love it!!

About 5 times a week. I'm so use to it that I think I'd be a little upset if someone didn't.

The other week when I got my car back from a rebuild, I spent time drivining it around for about 5 hours. I had 2 comments at gas stations,1 scream from a light, and 2 comments at the taco bell.

The Broadmoor is a very nice place; I like to visit Colorado Springs.

I've gotten lots of compliments....

I was driving at night in a residential neighborhood and a group of kids, they couldnt have been any older than 11 or 12, yelled out "It's an RX-7!", "burn 'em up"

I was particularly impressed that they knew what an RX7 was to begin with.....

Another time I was on the San Mateo bridge and an older man in his late 40's driving a 2000 explorer with 20" rims honked at me. I glanced over and he said is that a 93 or 94? I answered with 94. He didnt bother to ask if i was selling, he just came straight out and said "how much do i have to give you to drive away in that?"

I get the common ones too, I guess not everyone knows all fds are turbo so I always get "Is it turbo?"
Yeah...twin...... "dayyyymmmmmm"

I just cant wait to actually get a decent paint job and some nice pretty rims

I had a guy make fun of my car at a cruise night. He went by in some old Cherokee yelling out his window "Listen to that Honda rev.... weee..... see ya dog" But thats what I get for living in Nebraska. Nobody knows what it is. I've had alot of people ask "what kind of car is that?"

Some kids asked if my car was the one for F&F too.
Kid 1: You gonna put NOS in it?
Kid 2: He'll blow himself up
