do i need this?

i have been having some problems with my idle air control valve. i think that i might have it fixed but i was wondering do i really need it or can i just put a block off plate there. what good or bad things would happen if i got rid of it?

Bad idle...:D

what do you meen by bad idle? the reason i am asking is that there are other ways that the idle is controlled not just that valve. also if it helps (because it is electrically controlled) i have a pfc.

The valve is used by the computer to maintain the 750rpm idle. Don't know what happens with the PFC though. I think you still need the valve to maintain good idle under various conditions (cold, warm, etc).

Should note the stock ECU also uses this air passage to reduce afterburn on closed throttle (i.e. backfiring). Ya need it.
