Do Fd shiftknobs have the same size/pitch threads as an FC?

I bought my car, and the guy was telligme that it had an HKS shortthrow. I looked at it, and it just has an HKS shift knob, and I cant find any labels or anything on the shifter, so I assumed he was either lying or ignorant. Oh well. But, I have a shift knowb from an STi that Ive had for years, and it fit both my FB and my freinds FC. I would assume that it would fit an FD, but either they dont or I have some kind of short shifter. I have no idea.

I think most Mazda's have the same thread pitch for the shifter. I bought a fairly generic GReddy knob that's supposed to fit most Mazdas and some other Japanese cars. Fits my FD great.

I took the rx-8 shift knob off my FD and it is now on my FC vert. So, yes :)

Well, WTF. My shifter is way too small, diameter wise, for the knob. I gotta figure out what shifter I have. Time for some pics I guess.

I believe the S5 knobs have the same thread as an FD, but the S4 are different.

^^^^ Correct.

The S4 (and most pre-1989 Mazda cars) had a 10m thread pitch, the S5 RX7 (and most post-1989 US Cars) have 8m thread pitch.

These numbers might be backwards, but you get the point!
