dimmer switch malfunction after stereo install

Hey guys, can someone please help me find the problem for this issue. I had a deck installed into the car a while back and after it was all said and done my dimmer switch does not work.(didnt go back to installer cause engine went) Now all is good but the dash lights are always dim and cannot be changed. I've searchd before and came up with a suggestion about the wiring and how it may affect the light due to the particular wiring we have, but I cannot find that page again

please help me out cause i need to see in the dark!!!

Thanks in advance

have you checked to see if the plug for the switch is connected!

My first car, 97 eclipse, had the same problem. Installed radio and blew the dimmer switch which made the dash lights perm dark. Went to a junkyard and replaced it and lights worked.

Download the wiring manuals and get to it.

pull the deck out and check the wires there first

The FD panel lights are not dimmed by a typical reostat they are dimmed by pulse code modulation. If your deck lighting is connected to the panel dimming system it may not be compatable and causing the issue.
