diffuser or no diffuser?
dio you guys like them on the fd's? is there really an added benifit to using one? or is it mostly cosmetic?
im either buying a re diffuser or im buying the mudguards and painting them to match myc ar.. ill do one or the other.. what do you guys think?? i have no spoiler on my car also.. its just clean on the back.. and i have a 99 spec front lip with feed side skirts just in case.. and my car is silver |
lol its pretty much aesthetic. *it helps channel air under your car. Theres a lot more than just the re one. You should check them all out.

ive looked and i just like the re's look.. i just dunno if i want the re diffuser or just the mud guards and call it quits! both look good..
the mud guards im refering too are the ones like rich has on his red fd. i like that look a lot! |
The diffusers are mostly for looks. I doubt you would see any real aero benefits unless you worked on smoothing out the entire underside of the car. Maybe add a couple venturi tunnels leading into the diffuser... :) That is definitely a project I would like to do in the future.

yeah its just i love the looks of both.. and since it will mostly be for looks what do you guys think? since i have the 99 spec lip, and the feed side skirts.. do you think the diffuser would finish it off or make it look gotty!

I'm a huge fan of the diffuser on the FD. I have one I'm waiting to install soon.
Let there be no question, this is just for looks. (And sexy looks IMO) You would likely need a full underbody (front, middle, rear) system to see actual benefits. I don't think even Damian and GooRoo would say they get too much "on track" performance increases from their diffuser setups. Only downsides: They will most likely slow your street car down from the added weight. They also seem to break pretty eaisly too if you hit anything on the track. I prefer the RE-Amem looking version over the old Rotary Extreme myself. http://www.reworx.com/images/shop/ex...ffuser-GRP.jpg |
gotty in my opinion
i have seen them on stock bodied fd's and it just did not fit. if you are big on cosmetics and have a pre-existing kit. then i would consider it a great addition here is a picture of one from a group buy: http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/p1010031.jpg |
If you have sideskirts, you should definitely put something on the rear. The back end of the FD is rather high so a diffusor and/or mudguards would look great.

Ironically I used to work at a large foam plant. They have ovens that have vacuum setups and presses for dies... I plan on purchasing two 8"x48"x8ft pieces of styrofoam, and creating a full underbelly carbon fiber pan template. (well in sections for ease of maintaining parts) to go along with my RE diffuser.
I have everything set up for 450+ WHP, hate wings, yet want some stabilty. Hopefully anyway... Just waiting on my tune damnit. |
i have re-amemiya's street diffuser and i think it balances my car since i have a gtc front, which is very low. it's all personal preference at the end of the day.

If you're making a full aero underbody diffuser kit, I'd be very interested.
