difference between 1992 fd and 1993+

Does anyone know why the 1992 fd is excluded from the 3rd generation category on most of the aftermarket parts websites? lots of times its in the 89-92 category on the websites. Is the 1992 and 1993 the same engine and can the parts that are listed for a 1993 fit on a 1992? Im not talking about specific parts here, im just asking in general.

If I'm not mistaken, there is no '92 FD, at least in the states. The car debuted in '92 as a 93 model. Many 93's have 92 manufacture dates.

Correct. Mine was manufactured in 1991, purchased in 1992, and is designated a '93. There were no 1992-designated US models.

In the US, the FD was sold as a '93 model, there was no '92 RX-7 in the US. In Japan, the FD started as a '92 model - they got the FD a little before we did.

Any parts that say they work on a '93 will work on a '92. Standard rules apply - some US parts won't work on JDM cars due to them being right hand drive and other minor differences in market.

1992 Fd's don't have much differences from 1993+ except that they only have been sale in Japan so RHD . As for the mecanics the downpipe of the 1992 is replaced by a pre-cat in 1993+. Take note that LHD downpipes won't fit RHD cars so don't get fool. There's a couple other little differences but it's pretty much the same. When you're loooking for a part you always to take in consideration (if you have a 1992 like I do) that it's a 1993+ and not 89-92 which is a FC.
