difference between 13b & 20b

hey guys so its about .7 liters right. well whats your opinions on each of the motors?

is the 20b worth trying to get?

how can you identify your motor?

rexhvn Nov 30, 2007 06:44 PM

20b as far as I knew was much heavier? 20b's are a lot just to build as they were not a factory engine, therefore have to build them... about 20k? Even more... thats just to get one... cost alot more to keep it running and maintaining it... read the faqs!

1. yes thats about it! 50% more motor.

2. I suppose it depends on deep pockets as it is much more expensive than most top notch 13b rebuilds. and it does take some custom mounts to get it into the car.

3. it is easily identified as it has 3 rotor housings as opposed to 2 and the intake usually features 6 intake runners on top.

the 20b is a 3rotor 13b is a 2rotor. to do a 20b right it cost alot 4500 just the motor then install is like 12k and if u wanna do it right and sit the engine back alittle add about 10k to that and thats with out mods im jus guesstimating but i know speedmachines has built 20bs for 30k with out install or harness or anything

this thread is is COMPLETE FAIL

the 20b motor WAS a factory motor. mazda put them in the cosmos
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Cosmo

a 13b is a 2 rotor
a 20b is a 3 rotor

you can buy a 20b motor for under 5k. the modifications required & total labor to run one in an FD come out to $10+

someone lock this thread before it gets too retarded

+1. This thread is completely useless and there's a lot of bad information being tossed around.

Maybe you need to read the "faqs!" What's even worse is that you're telling him to do research and then giving him the wrong info at the same time :icon_tdow

i dont mean to get into the fray but is it not possible that he meant its not a factory engine that was offered for the rx-7? i want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt here but agree that all this thread can do is serve as a topic to start a flame war.

All good advice points to solid research and not to opinions

no problem man. it just gets really old when people with low post counts come in and ask questions that have been addressed time and time again.

also, make sure you do your research before you start a new thread. some people get upset when certain topics are frequently reposted.
