did you adjust clutch freeplay? exedy twin disc
 

Hey guys, got a question for those with the exedy twin disc clutch.

did you have any troubles adjusting the clutch freeplay? I have a stainless clutch line and a brand new slave, all freshly bled. problem is I can't get rid of the freeplay in the clutch pedal. The adjustment rod is already out as far as it can go, but there is about 2.5-3 inches of freeplay yet!

since I hadn't read that there have been troubles adjusting this for others, I assume something I did is wrong. on the clutch adjustment rod where it meets the pedal, I screwed it out towards the firewall, is that the proper direction?:Wconfused

No troubles here, I'll ask around though.

try screwing it the other way :) i forget which way is which, but its not gonna hurt anything...

All you can adjust with that rod is what height the push rod engages the master cylinder. There is another "stopper" adjustment, AKA the clutch switch.

A common adjustment is to have a short pedal throw as close to the floor as possible. I just tried this and love it. You don't actually need a full pedal throw, only enough to disengage the clutch. There was just a thread on it.

the manual says the clutch switch rod is for pedal height adjustment, and the longer rod is for freeplay. I haven't tried to screw it the other way yet, I'll go play with it some more tomorrow. doesn't make sense tho...

Dale Clark's ClubRX.org used to have an article on how to adjust the clutch pedal. Though, if you take a look at the pedal, you'll figure it out. It's pretty basic.

IIRC, it was a combination of 12mm and 10mm wrenches that are needed to do the job.
