Did something stupid, now abs light is on :/
 

Iv had this beloved fd for 7 years and made my first dumb mistake. Was testing out a gauge and wrapped the powerwire around the rear wiper fuse and plugged it back in. I planned on wiring it up legtimately but hadnt driven the car much or gotten around to it. Fast forward a month later, abs light is on. Pulled the fuse, renoved the gauge, light still stays on. I know the abs runs through this fuse and I can see slight browning on the fuse slots, but the wiper and everything else on the circuit works fine. Anyone have an idea of where to start when tracing this? Or could it be entirely coicendental?

Might have backfed too much current through the ABS, and fried the unit.. If you see brown burny-looking discoloration on the fuse wiring, you might have cooked the ABS. Be careful how you wire things. I had a car catch fire and burn to the ground due to the factory wiring (I never touched or altered it) and it wrote the car off- like a $17,000.00 fire in 10 minutes.

Now I'm very hesitant to wire anything unless properly fused, insulated, soldered and right gauge wire for amperage, and correct sized fuse to protect that wiring gauge.
I definitely dont advocate temporary wiring, or twisting wires around other power wires to get things running. Do it the safe way. Have no regrets :)

I think you are correct, yes it is discolored around the fuse slot. So is it the abs unit under the hood that would be fried? Where should I check first? Surely the whole system and wheel sensors cannot be blown?
