Did I pop off a boost hose?
My car was running 10-8-10. Then it was in the shop forever. Last night it seemed slower so I did the 40-70 mph test, not timing just watching the boost gauge. I did a 9-5-7, also there is a loud "ffffffff" noise near the passenger side floor. It seems louder than normal, but the car has been gone so long I don't remember for sure. Thanks for the help. Oh, and if a hose is off how in the world would I find it? I'm not a mechanic so......
I do have silicon hoses and ties, but I don't know what else it could be. |
check out steve cirrani's site, Lighting world of thunder, for the boost troubleshooting procedures.
coud be primary bost leak (3" hoses) or just about everything else in there. good luck, let us know the results of some tests so we can help you out better. |
5 bucks its the y-pipe rubber coupler above the turbo inlet if it's a *whoosh* noise. Take off the plastic intake tubes and remove the rubber coupler. It's about the diameter of a coffee cup and secured by straps. It may not look damaged, but bend it around and look for cracks for vacuum to escape. These go out all the time. Any other boost leak will either make little noise or a high whistle usually. About 15 bucks to replace the coupler.

why was the car in the shop? if they did any turbo work they may not have replaced the restrictor pills.
