Usually you can resolve issues like this by talking to the service manager. Hopefully he is reasonable.

ummm.... YES! I've been reading your other post, and wondering what warranty company are you with? mine lets me go to whoever I want. My point is if it's possible get your car out of the dealer. 1900 for oil cooler lines and now this?

Dragueur 01-28-04 02:57 PM

the service manager WAS the one that said I HAVE to PAY....

BS...try to work through it with the Service Manager and if that doesn't work...try internet justice.

dealers

This is why there are horror stories about poor dealer service. I read your other post about replacing the oil cooler lines as a pre-requisite for replacing the turbos- that is dealer BS. Unless the lines are leaking, damaged or unless you know you have ground up metal filings plugging them up, there is no need to replace them. There have been some suggestions to work this out with the service manager. Good luck. His main function is to maximize the profit in his department, not to keep customers happy. If he can con someone into an unnecessary repair, he makes money. I have used dealer service off and on over the last 20 years and if you keep your wits, you can usually come out on top. Sounds like this dealer is trying to screw you. Unless you authorized the dealer to order the parts, they were ordered at their risk. There probably is a re-stocking charge, but tough shxt- it's their problem. Twice, I was in a situation where a dealer service rep was clearly in the wrong but would not back off. The magic word is "lawyer". If you indicate that you will sue them, they will need to decide which way will cost them the most amount of $$. Write a letter to the general manager or owner (not service manager) of the dealership. Without using offensive language, objectively state what has happened and state that you intend to turn the matter over to your attorney if it is not settled to your satisfaction in ten working days. State specificly what you want- credit for re-stocking charge, etc. If he fails to correct the situation, find a lawyer who will take the case on a pre-agreed fee. Have him write to the dealer on your behalf. This may by itself cause the dealer to relent. Bottom line- if you are being screwed, don't give in. That's what they are counting on. Then you lose and they get your $$. My $0.02

thanks..I already picked up my car...paid the $164 initial diag. fee(I agreed to pay and signed for) and didnt pay the $300 plus tax they were chargin me for restocking fee.

I told them if they wanna bill me, then go ahead, and I will send the bill and the WHOLE story the the B.A.R. (Bureau of Auto Repair) and have them deal with the dealership. they said they gonna have to eat the $300... :) for now anyways..

and when I got my car back..the battery was dead! I had to tell the shop foreman to jump start my car.... and the gas tank was empty!! so i said thanks and cussed that foo out.

now I am waiting for the lady that has been dealin with my car to call me so i can cuss her ass out too... :)

Dragueur 01-28-04 06:05 PM

guess its not a good idea to cuss her out..so i wont.

ZeroBanger 01-28-04 06:24 PM

Tell the dealer to go outside, play hide and go **** himself.

Was this "Restocking Fee" explained to you at the time of the order? Is the language on the receipt AND is it in the front where it can easily be read,...or is it in the back along with other mumbo-jumbo?? I think you can get out of this pretty easy!

SPOautos 01-28-04 06:59 PM

BS- THere is no dealer restocking fee. I have bought tons of stuff from my local dealer (they even give me a 20% discount) and I've returned tons of stuff and they have never mentioned a restocking fee. I've even bought 2 parts to see which one I needed with the intent of bringing one back AND it was thier idea for me to do that. There is no way in hell they would suggest that and take back as much as I've brounght back if they were taking it in the ass for a restocking fee back to Mazda.

They were just trying to fuck you to make some money cause you were cancelling the work.

ADVISE them that neither before or at the time the order was placed, that it was brought to your attention or ever informed that a restocking fee existed. TELL them that you DO NOT want to pursue a Deceptive Trade Practice Act (DTPA) case against them!! BUT,....you will have no choice IF they do not drop and/or waive the friggen "Restocking Fee".!! Good Luck.
