dawes device vs. home depot boost controller
is it worth it to pay the extra for the dawes device, or is the home depot basically the same thing?

They are completly different - the "Home Depot" controler is simply a bleader valve that replaces the "PILL" in the stock system. In essence an ADJUSTABLE Pill, the Dawes is an adjustable Spring loaded Valve that opens at a preset level. The Dawes device in essence turns the boost control system in to a mechanical fedback loop system insted of the stock programed duty cycle system.

Tell me more about this dawes device. It sounds like it can operate actuators based on pressure, rather than revs.

So on the Dawes Device the the WG solenoid is not used?
Seems to me that could work OK for the Wastegate, but probably not very well for the the trubo precontrol. The "binary" operation of the DD seems like it would give pretty funky prespool on the second turbo. |
anyone got more info on the dawes device? how does it affect prespool? does it allow for faster spool-up than the hd?

only thing is...
the instructions tell you to not use the existing wategate sourceline but tap into the turbo manifold or another boost source...yet forum members just install the dawes device where the home depot valve would be same source line and all... also the nipple on the exit side is smaller than the entry side....6mm hose on the front....4mm on the back? can one purchase an elbow with the correct nipple size? no way you can attach a 6mm to that little elbow thanks |

Ive been to the website...so you cap the end of the header and connect the inlet to a boost source. I thought the original source vac line to the pill was a boost source?

best for non-sequential. originally designed for single turbo.
would take a lot to work into sequential use. |
For sequential you would probably need to use a regular needle valve - or restriction valve for prespool and the DD for the Wastegate - but you would have to be sure to have a higher WG boost setting than prespool (first turbo) otherwise the DD would open the WG on the first turbo and kill the transition to the second turbo (or that's how it seems inside my head).

I have been running the Dawes valve to control my WG and a bleeder valve to contol my prespool for years. It works great. Quicker spoolup and less spike at transition. I did a writeup on it a while back.
