Dangers of turbos that burn a little oil
What is the danger of this? My turbos have a little shaft play and push a little oil on startup. They don't smoke while driving and there is a little oil in the intake track. What are the dangers of running these till they die? They still boost perfect.
Thanks for your help |
this is typicaland the second post like it in a row (expect some flames(forum wise)) don't worry bout the start up smoke it is typical, and read up on some of the archives, they are full of invaluable info.

Check your compressor stage. I've seen instances where PCV pullover was so bad the compressor housing got completely covered in sludge. Surely a degradation of performance. If you've got sludge build-up the easiest way to get rid of it is to throw some oil onto the sludge and let it set for a couple of minutes.. then grab a rag and wipe it down, should come off real easy. Continued running like this will eventually lead to efficiency degradation and sludging.
