Daikei steering wheel adapter retains cruise control

I bought the Daikei steering wheel hub from roadsterdoc. I know it was advertised as "new" but it looked like some pieces were broken. Regardless, fixed it up and everything is working like a charm.

If you want to retain your cruise control this is a nice alternative...with some draw backs.

Basically the kit comes with everything that you need. It has adapters for different steering wheel manufacturers and the cancel for the airbag and plug and play adapters.

The location of the buttons and horn looks gaudy but it is functional. The big MOMO button just basically covers this....and you can still activate the buttons while driving.

So this is something for those people that want to keep their cruise. Just another alternative than trying to fab or mount your cruise control on the aftermarket wheel.

Where would you get that from?

I got it from a forum member. I think FDnewbie might be able to get them as it seems to be a Japan company.

Nothing new Rich! Anyways, you have a nicer and FASTER car than me!

Here is a fire extinguisher with quick release, mounted with custom bracket from the Raceshop and some gauges waiting to go in because all of you guys and talks of blowing up engines made me paranoid ;)

These are the only new things...

The hub is Daikei, but the horn button seems to be Autospeed. That is REALLY cool. I'll have to do some digging on that.

I'm bigtime wanting a steering wheel for my car, and a proper airbag resistor and cruise control buttons are a must. That's a VERY slick way to do it.

Follow this link for a great, readily available alternative for those that don't care of keeping the cruise control in stock location.

I have a center that retains the cruise control and says efini on it. I didn't use it with my install if anyone is interested.

7racer, what gauges are they? They look quite nice, I know the far right is the PLX wideband.

unfortunately, roadsterdoc doesn't remember where he purchased it from as it's been awhile. He just remembers purchasing the brand as it is a very popular hub for miata's.

In regards to the gauges, they are SPA gauges...maxcooper used them in his setup.

Where did you purchase them from, they're very nice. I'm assuming they come with the sensors?

7racer 05-25-06 11:15 PM

I purchased them from racerpartswholesale.com

prepare for some sticker shock. They do come with the sensors. However, these "might" be higher maintenance sensors as maxcooper reported them going bad. Maybe the newer ones are better. Also, the older spa guages would "blanch" in heat and direct sunlight just like what happens to the PFC commander. From what they say, this has been fixed with the recent series.

I plan to post a write-up and will let you know how it goes with daily use.

The gauges can be switched from a green to amber backlight. Also there are warning lights and the ability to mount remote warning lights.

mark koch carbonfiberparts.net

however, he doesn't make them anymore.

Sonix7 on the forum is making them now. He seems to have a better process and equally good results. kevlar color, standard cf, japan weave, etc...

you might want to drop him a pm

Dale,

I think the horn is part of the package for Daikei.

If you goto their website (I think this is their actual website). You can see a pic of the hub with the autospeed horn button with the controls on it.
