Custom OMP [Video]

Would this work on an FD If you wanted to run an external oil can to feed the oil injector nozzles in the rotor housings? It seems rather simple and could help if someone wanted to do this as opposed to using the oil in their system to avoid running the oil down or to keep an eye on exactly how much oil is being used. If this isn't something that would work on our engines then disregard my post and keep the flaming to a minimum

I know everyone says, "Just run premix and be done with it, and if you feel uncomfortable run premix and your factory OMP." That isn't what this is about I'm just wondering if this can be done to our cars and if there is anything that would prohibit it from working.

Thanks!

...If you read the forums FAQ and Guides you would fine this product.
Oil inject. Pump Adpt

its and adaptor that fit between the OMP and the block which allows one to run whatever oil that choose to from an external reservoir.

Thanks, I've never seen this before. I've read through some of the FAQ and Guide articles on here but I never came across that one. It definitely looks like something I'd be interested in.

See what I did here:

Its a work in progress - I just got an oil tank today! One from a Nissan GTR that will fit in the place of my now deleted air pump, has a dipstick - and a sensor I can wire in for low oil level!

Like the Rotary aviation system, make sure the tank is 6 inches plus, above the inlet.

I still need to tap a thread and put a grub screw into the front cover to 'block' the factory oil feed.

I dig it that looks like you did a good job. I know some people think it is kind of dumb to go to this much trouble and just run premix but I figure with this method it would be a lot easier to keep an eye on the OMP system. This idea coupled with new nozzles on the rotor housings would make me feel very confident that my apex seals were being nice and lubed up.

FYI, the Rotary Aviation adapter does not work with the stock twins. There is an interference there that requires hacking of the OMP to get it to work.

Because of that I have opted to pre-mix in tank in addition to stock OMP. Not that much of a hassle and I get to decide the amount of lubrication.

I haven't heard this...you could also get a newer Mikuni OMP Series 8+ unit which is smaller thus more room to work with

Ok, cool. Thanks for the feedback guys. I know it's kind of silly to worry about such small details but when I do this again i want to take every precaution. Mazda engineered these things to run for a minimum of 100k on their own so I want to do the same.

I've never heard of this. Do you have a part number? Seems helpful to to me since I am running a cast manifold from HKS with a TO4S and it sits a little close to the OMP for my tastes. I feel like it will fail from overheating

I'm not sure of the part number...you could ask Goodfella I think I remember reading that he had one on his 7.

here is the write-up on it.
