crazy steering problem

My steering is acting all crazy. Under hard acceleration it it gets all crazy and wants to swerve alot, and at high way speeds like cruising aorund 70 -80 MPH the steering gets really light not tight like it should be.

What could be the problem. I know my struts are shot for sure. Anything past that?

You probably have some bad rear bushings. When you accelerate the alignment changes to something that is less that desirable.

The steering getting light, I had the electronic portion of the steering fail on a second gen. Basically it wouldn't reduce the amount of assist it gave as the speed increased. Check the wiring to-and-from your PS pump.

Be sure and check rear toe link bushings. These are a known weak spot and can contribute to clunking, wheel hop, and rear-steering effects just like you’ve described. They are often replaced with the stronger and more durable racing pieces from venders like RX7 Store, M2, K2RD, and others.

thanks for the help guys. So how hard is it to change the suspension bushings?

I've never done them before, and if I'm going in there to change one, I want to chang all of them.

Try one of the forum member's sites

He has a nice write up on changing the rear pillow-ball bushings.

Hope that helps.
