Crate Engine?

Hi hows it going everyone
I havent been on the site in a long time because I decided I wasnt going to get an fd, but I keep changing my mind and am pretty sure I am going to be getting one now. I have been looking around and there are alot of fds with blown engines that are a hell of alot cheaper then the ones with engines. What I am wondering is this:
I would like to have an engine that is someone chromed out, looking good, and done out (im sure everyone would want one) Can I buy a rotary crate engine from somewhere that is already done out and chromed so I can just drop it in? Or am I going at this the wrong way would it be better to get an fd with an engine and work from there

Thanks
Shane

All I have to say is 20B. That is if you are looking for some performance. If your looking to chrome someting out you need something like a lowrider.

ye i think the lowrider is for you...........the FD3S is a sports car..........the engine might look ugly to some people (to me its the most beautiful thing in the world)but its capable of beating some of those nice looking ones

are car is a BEAST and one of the most, if not the most atrractive cars in the world..........plus it will be hell to keep it clean

Yeah, the 20B is next weekend's project. Until then, I'll have to live with my low riding, polished engine bay, hide-my-head-in-shame, self.

Who says good looking and performance are mutually exclusive?:D

Polishing work is courtesy of twinturboteddy on the forum. I suggest picking up a reman from KD Rotary or Malloy Mazda and send the peripheral components (UIM, TB, LIM, alternator, etc) out for polishing.

There are no new 'crate motors' available, just remans.

If you really want to go all out, you can get the intermediate and rotor housing polished too. I think KD disassembles the remans they get for inspection anyways, so then would be a good time to do so.
*edit* Actually, I think the intermediate housings are cast iron or sumthin, so needs to be ceramic or powder coated. See the 3rotor site below.

Upkeep of polished parts is as easy (or hard) as the polish you use. I use POR15's Artisan Metal Polish - makes polishing/up keep a breeze, and almost fun.

Best of luck.:)

Oh, and if you want pure insanity, I wonder what makes a fully polished (and I mean fully) 3 rotor in an FD?:p:

They're not but each is a lot of work and maintenance and so most people choose to do one or the other. You may also get a lot of flak for making everything shiny simply because so many people who do that tend to not make it faster or worse, add a lot of crap that actually hinders performance for the 'look'.

I'll recognize that you can have both so I'll just say, please don't make it ugly :P

I think there was a guy who necro'd a 9-12 yr thread early this year...forget which area of the forum it was in.

To the necromaster...Thanks for searching...I think?
