Crate Engine?
Hi hows it going everyone
I havent been on the site in a long time because I decided I wasnt going to get an fd, but I keep changing my mind and am pretty sure I am going to be getting one now. I have been looking around and there are alot of fds with blown engines that are a hell of alot cheaper then the ones with engines. What I am wondering is this: I would like to have an engine that is someone chromed out, looking good, and done out (im sure everyone would want one) Can I buy a rotary crate engine from somewhere that is already done out and chromed so I can just drop it in? Or am I going at this the wrong way would it be better to get an fd with an engine and work from there Thanks Shane |
All I have to say is 20B. That is if you are looking for some performance. If your looking to chrome someting out you need something like a lowrider.

ye i think the lowrider is for you...........the FD3S is a sports car..........the engine might look ugly to some people (to me its the most beautiful thing in the world)but its capable of beating some of those nice looking ones

Yeah, the 20B is next weekend's project. Until then, I'll have to live with my low riding, polished engine bay, hide-my-head-in-shame, self.

I suggest picking up a reman from KD Rotary or Malloy Mazda and send the peripheral components (UIM, TB, LIM, alternator, etc) out for polishing. There are no new 'crate motors' available, just remans. If you really want to go all out, you can get the intermediate and rotor housing polished too. I think KD disassembles the remans they get for inspection anyways, so then would be a good time to do so. *edit* Actually, I think the intermediate housings are cast iron or sumthin, so needs to be ceramic or powder coated. See the 3rotor site below. Upkeep of polished parts is as easy (or hard) as the polish you use.
