Couple Questions
 

Okay the other day my idle jumped up to 1500rpm and the TAS didn't help. When I blip the throttle the rpms will drop to normal but then work their way back up to 1500-1600rpm. I've searched but haven't really found anything similar.

Also, I have no idea if this is related but I've also noticed lately that my gas mileage has gotten absolutely horrible. Along with the faint smell of fuel under acceleration. I really don't know where to begin trying to fix this.

My mods are intake, downpipe, catback, intercooler, BOV, EBC. I have other things as well but I don't think they would have any effect on these problems.

Fuel smell means that you have a gas leak. Most likely your FPD and/or your primary injector o-rings. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL YOU FIX IT. This will cause a fire if not addressed.

There are several causes of "gas smell" which doesn't necessarily mean there is an actual leak.

Do you only smell the gas when accelerating, or can you smell it under the hood while the car is idling? If you can't smell it while the car is idling, it's doubtful it's the Fuel Pulsation Damper. If you smell gas in the cockpit, but not under the hood while it's idling, you need to check the charcol canister.

If you only smell it during acceleration, things to check would be (in order of easiest to check):

* Brake booster line/check valve
* PCV valve
* injectors
* LIM gasket

Are you quoting labor as well with that price? As I know the gasket isn't nearly that much.

Well I only smell fuel under hard acceleration, mostly just at WOT. The smell isn't incredibly noticeable but I can smell it and it coincides with my bad mileage so I figure they are related.

Some of the solutions are pointing toward the emissions control devices so I am thinking it would be a good idea to go ahead and buy the blockoff plates and see if it will help any. And the fact that I will have the UIM off and will be able to check some vacuum lines.

I am really hoping its not the LIM gasket because I've heard thats a fairly difficult job.

With the charcoal canister, what could I do to fix it? Would eliminating it and plugging the fuel return line be a fix?

If you are ONLY getting it under acceleration (you can't smell gas while the car is idling whether under the hood or in the cockpit), then the charcol canister isn't your problem. Once there is sufficient load on the engine, the evaporative system takes care for the fumes instead of the charcol canister.

Some of the problem areas are "around" the emission areas, but the block off plates really won't solve the problem.

I would start checking the things I listed above in my prior message, in that order, and see what you find. As far as the LIM gasket, I'll be replacing mine here soon as well. ;)
