Could a kill switch be my problem?
Well I've tried and tested just about everything--fuses, fuse connectors, ecu, traced all the wires, ect., there is simply no spark ommiting from the spark plugs. I can crank the engine and fuel is being delivered.
There is an alarm could be factory or aftermarket, so my question is could that alarm have gone off with some sort of kill switch and could that be the reason I am not getting any juice to the spark plugs. |
There is no stock kill switch. Have you check/tested the igniter?
|
Thanks man you always come through:).
Well everyone tells me that the ignitor almost never goes out. I was going to have mazda test it but they said they need me to haul the whole car down there, and that they can't just tests parts itself. I can test it only so far with the multimeter the manual says I need an ignitor testor + a multimeter to test the ignitor, wherever the hell they sell those at only god knows. Any tips? I'm just trying to get the simple stuff out of the way that's why I thought of maybe the alarm, cuz I've heard of some with kill switches but I imagine they are just for the ignition switch? Tested the coilpacks they're good, and next it will be the cam sensors for ohm resistance. |
I agree. The igniter is something that you rarely hear of going out. The time I've been on this forum, I've only seen one case of that (in the 3rd Gen section that is). But, it's part of the ignition system so you should inspect it. Also, you might take a look at this thread:

yeah I read that one, it was a wire or something. I traced all the wires but I'm going to do it again just be sure. I hope its the ignitor, I'm going to buy a used one from the classified and see if it cures anything. The ecu seems fine took it apart no burns or charred components so I don't think it will be it. Do any of those diagnoses testors work.
By the way do you know if the ignition series is like this- battery------ignition switch----ecu----starter----2 cam sensors----ignitor------coil pack-----spark plugs. I tried looking at the diagram off the manual but it isn't clear. Thanks for all your help as usual:cool: |
