coolant temps are like day/night..literally!

my temps for the coolant are very different during the day compared to night. during the day, at a cruising speed or at idle, the temps are normal. but from a dead stop to start moving, the temps rise a little bit, enough to notice the temp gauge moving. also if already moving and i get on it it does the same thing. but at night time when its cooler outside, the temps stay pegged at normal operating temps.

what could cause this night and day effect im getting??? could it be the water%/coolant% mixture? anyone else notice this happening?

i know they will be a little hotter during the day due to the outside temp, but it seems a bit drastic. im not loosing coolant anymore(i found my leak)

are you talking about the stock gauge? Why don't you get a real temp gauge if you don't already. Are your fans working properly?

could be air in the systems, since u mentioned a leak, did u burp the system well?

Stupid question. Of course your temps will be higher during the day. Its hotter during the day, so the air flowing thru your radiator will be hotter then. When you are stopped, there is no flow thru the radiator, so it gets hotter until the fans come on, night or day.

Get an aftermarket temp gauge. The stock one is useless. G

Also, your cooling fans come on earler when you lights are on or the cabins fan is set to three or higher. Assuming you have the stock ecu.

This symptom can also be caused by a stuck, sluggish or sticky mechanical thermostat. (Causing a constant orfice or restriction to coolant flow.) The mechanical thermostat is the primary regulator of coolant temp once airflow is established, e.g., you are moving.

Unless it's really hot or cold out, the temps should basically be consistent day to night. The fans will come into play if and when you are standing still.
