Coolant Temprature Sensor(s)?

Hello all,

This past weekend I installed a PWR radiator. After filling the system I went for a test drive. After about 200 feet the low coolant-warning buzzer sounded. There must have been a trapped air pocket the worked itself out. As I turned around to head home the PFC read 83 - 84 degrees (did not climb). However the stock gauge started climbing (almost to the hot mark). Therefore my questions are as follows:
1. Is there more than one coolant temperature sensor?
2. Where does the PFC get its reading from versus the stock gauge?

Thanks,
Tom

The stock gauge and the computer uses different sensors. The computer uses the two wire sensor while the gauge uses the 1 wire.

the low coolant sensor is sensor on the thermostat housing in the front of the car. the coolant temperature sensor is a different one that below the oil filter and screws into the block by the 2nd rotor. your pfc must use this sensor unless there is another one that i don't know about which is possible. i'm not sure why your stock gauge would climb and the pfc would read ok though. weird.

The other sensor on the rear of the water pump housing turns the fans on -off.
