coolant light

it came on today, along with an annoying buzzer for like 1 minute. i pulled the car over because at first i didnt know what the sound was and turned it off. when i turned it back on there was no sound, then it came on for like 10 seconds and went off again. anyways, what kind of coolant do you guys recommend?

also, im going to check my records for when the coolant was changed last, but if it was less than 15k miles should i check for a leak? thanks

check for leaks.
Because when your buzzer comes on, that could only mean that your motor is using up coolant or leaking coolant from somewhere.

When the car has cooled off, remove the filler cap (just to the left of the alternator) and check the coolant level. If low, fill with 70%water, 30% coolant, prestone works fine (make sure it's green!). Keep checking your coolant level at the filler cap over the next week before you start the car (i.e. when it's cool!) to see if it's dropping. If it keeps dropping, run a pressure test on the cooling system. If no leaks are obvious but the system won't hold pressure, search for O-Ring failure. But start with the pressure test before you suspect the worst...

the engine is new and is pullin strong, i sure hope its not an oring failure :\

btw, can boosting too high cause oring failure? i haven't boosted too high in a long time but im just curious (when i first bought the car the engine had like 3k miles, i boosted too high on more than one occaision)

um, i can't get any reading at all on my gauge, even at the bottom way below the "low" mark
