Coolant level sensor

I just finished installing my new ported engine and all is fine , except for my coolant level sensor. It keeps ringing and lighting up steady. I 'm topped off and I checked everything I can think of. I even disconnected it and it still will not go off. I had the car off and tested the connector and I was getting 5 volts, I then grounded the connector and turned the ignition to the on position and my fans turned on. Now I'm really in a lost. Is anyone familair with this problem?..

Hey Alex,
Good to hear the cars back together and ready to run. I'm alittle surprized the fans come on when you ground the level sensor >>> Will have to see what I can find on that. Is that your only problem so far ? ?? after all that work that's great if it is . Im sure this group will have that solved before I can get back to you. Is that a recent photo in your avatar ? ? ?

Hi Jack,

Yes I'm finally done and the only problem I have is that damn coolant sensor. Yes that's my new engine bay in my avatar, thanks for all the polishing.

have you got the plug that runs behind the aircon pump hooked up?
white spade connector i believe... commonly missed (i missed it in my build initially).

there are two level sensors (plus one coolant sensor on the rear of the block).
1. filler neck
2. white spade connecter behind air con

Wire connectors reversed - check your manuals wiring diagrams Section B1abc on the EM harness and correct them.

Actually the white connector is the a/c, the black connector is the one that most people forget, or they plug into the a/c.

I have both connectors in place , the one black connector thats below the thermoswitch on the water pump housing and the other on front , just below the filler neck. The connector thats in the rear is the one that I'm getting the constant 5v from. This buzzer is driving me nuts.

When I finished my rebuild I connected the Water Level Sensor to the Power Steering connector. Is your check engine light on? If it is, does it flash off when you turn the wheel? If so you have the connectors switched. Sounds stupid but it stumped me for a week.

i did that too bdennis!
gets frustrating trying to start a car with a buzzer firing constantly huh?!

ok, per my PM, have a look at this pic... you've got the yellow ones hooked up... i'm 99% sure you're missing or have miss-plugged the red one.

better image... you're after the red plug.

Problem is now solved, thanks to everyone for there input. There are 3 connections for the coolant level sensor. Two that actually go to sensors and one that connects the crank angle sensor harness to the battery terminal harness.

Thanks,
Alex

alny93ra, was yours always on or did it come on and go off

Alec Sep 25, 2007 10:44 AM

I've got the same problem as well, it came after I rebuilt the engine...

But have you other guys experienced that the yellow "check" light is on as well?!
