computer?
recently talked to a racing shop and was just calling for some random question.
he asked me what mods were done and i told him:new engine, trust intake,dp,midpipe,no cat and greddy n1 exhaust.he told me i needed to buy a new ecu(aem or emanage)to correctly tune for the mods or the engine could blow because of too much boost.(probably running around 13-15 ibs he suspected).is there any truth to this? |
need to do a search. A ecu is definetly in order or at least a ebc (electronic boost controller), perferablly a ecu though. Members choice is either apexi pfc ($750) or haltech ($$$$$), personally ill be buying the pfc as its more economic for me. You WILL blow your motor, you need to add more fuel, or atleast port the wastegate, grab a ebc and turn the boost down.

If you're running those mods on a stock ECU then yes you're playing with fire for sure.
Have you noticed any hesitation or anything at high throttle/rpms? Definately those mods without any upgraded engine management is a very dangerous combo. Simon. |
