computer?

recently talked to a racing shop and was just calling for some random question.
he asked me what mods were done and i told him:new engine, trust intake,dp,midpipe,no cat and greddy n1 exhaust.he told me i needed to buy a new ecu(aem or emanage)to correctly tune for the mods or the engine could blow because of too much boost.(probably running around 13-15 ibs he suspected).is there any truth to this?

need to do a search. A ecu is definetly in order or at least a ebc (electronic boost controller), perferablly a ecu though. Members choice is either apexi pfc ($750) or haltech ($$$$$), personally ill be buying the pfc as its more economic for me. You WILL blow your motor, you need to add more fuel, or atleast port the wastegate, grab a ebc and turn the boost down.

If you're running those mods on a stock ECU then yes you're playing with fire for sure.

Have you noticed any hesitation or anything at high throttle/rpms? Definately those mods without any upgraded engine management is a very dangerous combo.

Simon.

If your running over stock boost levels (which I'm sure you can tell by your boost gauge) and your mods would certianly put you over 10 psi without some form of boost controler. You deffinately need an ECU to handle the mods.
