Hey all -

Found this in RX-7 Magazine #20. I also have the full page scanned, but it's too large for a forum attachment and my web host is acting up right now (grr!). The full page shows pictorial differences between the 280hp twins and the 255hp twins.

Anyhow, this map looks decent enough to make some conclusions from hopefully. The maps from the 2 stock twins (hi/low power) are overlaid. I used to know how to read compressor maps, but that part of my brain is now rusty :). Can anyone gather insight from this?

WOW thx for this. :D Too bad there are no numbers for the pressure ratio and cfm.

amazing find Dale.

unfortunately without the flow data there are few conclusions that can be drawn. since the data had to be used to construct the map someone at mazda decided to titillate us, just give us a partial peak. now it is a question of finding the X line data.

since twins make somewhere around 380 or so rear wheel, and it takes approx 1.92 cfm to make a rw rotary hp, they probably flow 364 cfm tops which would put the max on the X line at 25 lbs/minute. if you were to post that in at the max line you could come up w the lefthand surgeline and anything in between since the x line is linear.

380whp at what pressure ratio? 17 psi or 2.15 Pr? But what's the efficiency at this point?

it would drop around 60-50% or less. if i read the map correctly...

Wanted to share my newest finding on the topic (even the old one)

For everyone whom might be concerned, source is HIGH FLOW TURBOCHARGERS ‹ GCG

Best,
Iwan
